A Prep Cook candidate will need to be passionate about Southern style food and BBQ, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be physically capable of working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, and be flexible with their schedule. They will be responsible for preparing food items, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, communicating effectively with others, and performing various duties as assigned by management.
Prep cooks do the majority of the preparation for the dishes that are served. This includes chopping vegetables, breaking down, cutting or portioning meats, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, storing food, and more.

What the Candidate Will Do:
- Write and follow a prep list to meet the needs of the restaurant.
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as making sauces, parboiling foods, prepping produce, operating kitchen machinery, etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience as prep cook. (A minimum of 1 year of experience as a line cook in a high-volume restaurant.)
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in the kitchen.
- Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
- Good physical condition and endurance to work long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
- Able to stoop, bend and reach and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and some holidays
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
